We are seeking visionary and dynamic Landscape Architecture and/or Urban Design leadership for the Central Region Urbanism + Planning practice. The primary responsibilities are to lead and grow the Urbanism practices (Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, primarily) in the Central Region with the goal of driving design innovation and excellence, thought leadership, project management, and technical and delivery success for local, regional and global clients and communities. This role will dual report to Buildings + Places Central Regional Business Line Leader and the Americas Urbanism Lead and involves close coordination and collaboration with other discipline leaders and business lines.

The Buildings + Places (B+P) Business Line, within DCSA, incorporates the Architecture, Building Engineering, Interior Design, Planning, Economics, Landscape Architecture, and Strategy+ Consulting Services across key markets including Cities, Corporate, Government, Transportation, Education, Healthcare, Justice, Mission Critical, Themed Entertainment/Leisure and Sports markets. Our Buildings + Places teams have planned and designed renowned urban environments including Liberty Park, New York; 34 th Street Harbor, Chicago; Denver Union Station, Denver; Yards West, Washington, DC; One Shenzhen Bay Landscape, China; Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, Washington, DC; LA2028 Olympic Bid, Los Angeles; Golden 1 Center Urban Plan, Sacramento, CA.

We are seeking an individual who is an industry-recognized leader in the Landscape Architecture or Urban Design community, has strong client relationships, and an established client and industry network. The ideal candidate understands and has a proven track record in driving business fundamentals that include client leadership, talent development, business development, financial oversight, design quality, project delivery, and has the ability to convey innovative design thinking and solutions.

Leadership:

  • In collaboration with the Americas Urbanism + Planning Lead, the Americas Urbanism Lead, and the Central B+P Regional Business Line Leader, responsible for developing and executing the strategic growth plan for the Central Urbanism practice, including developing and executing client outreach goals

  • Advocates design excellence leads the Central strategy for Urbanism in assuring that we are building client relationships, strategically pre-positioning winning and delivering the most important work

  • Works in collaboration with Americas and Central Leadership to align operations and allocate resources according to strategic priorities specifically works to align Landscape Urbanism and Urban Design priorities in the Central region

  • Leads a culture of innovation and collaboration

  • Proactively focuses on talent development, retention, and recruiting

  • Leads a culture of innovation and collaboration

  • Champions change makes the AECOM vision understandable, creates buy-in to the vision by linking day-to-day work to the attainment of the vision, engages and mobilizes others to drive change, reduces organizational ambiguity.

LOCATION

Preferred home base in one of the top regional cities (e.g. Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, Kansas City, Denver, St. Louis, etc ).

COMPENSATION

An attractive compensation package commensurate with the significant responsibility and importance of this position will be offered to the successful candidate.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or related field

  • Minimum 12 years' experience including 4 years in leadership

  • Successfully delivered projects within the clients budget / schedule requirements

  • Successfully delivered project scope and fee, delivering targeted profit to the firm interfaced with project managers on schedules, project review meetings, issues management and client expectations

  • An ability to travel and/or work remotely with teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master s degree in Landscape Architecture and/or Urban Design

  • Certification or relevant credentialing

  • Experience practicing in the Central United States

  • Deep knowledge of the marketplace with national and global reach, key clients, and industry trends is paramount

  • Experience and skill in strategic business development, client relationships and driving sales and revenue

  • The ability to support and lead business development activities through early client interaction, scope of work development, interviews, and on-going client maintenance interface

  • A strong desire to train, mentor and develop staff to grow their careers and the business

  • Other expertise may include concentrated experience in B+P client markets such as; Cities, Government, Transportation, Corporate, Commercial, Justice, Healthcare, Mission Critical, and Higher Education. Each considered an important market sector to the role
