PERFORMANCE – Setting new standards

  • Perform administrative and professional architectural work by managing projects during the design phase as the owner’s representative and contribute to design and constructability topics during construction
  • Provide leadership and direction to the project and the project design team consisting of architects, engineers and consultants in the design and development of company construction projects.
  • Create and monitor Design Team budgets for assigned projects.
  • Supervise and participate in feasibility, preliminary studies and program requirements of proposed building/development projects. Work with acquisition department to provide preliminary feasibility to serve as an evaluation tool for potential purchases.
  • Act as Project Architect on in-house design projects. Produce Architectural Project documents and manage outside consultants, Director of Architecture is Architect of Record for these in-house projects.
  • Provide continuous oversight and direction of the Design Team on assigned projects of varying complexity and stages of development. This work occurs in multiple states and municipalities on both new and renovation projects within the Weidner portfolio.
  • On assigned projects handle coordination of permit submittals and approvals for work needing permitting from government and jurisdictional agencies.
  • Prepare schematic sketches and conceptual designs that show the general site and building design possibilities in order to clarify the owner’s desired program. Communicate this information to the VP of Design and Construction, the Director of Architecture and the design team once project direction and program is established.
  • Provide input on consultant scope, fee and related consultant contract documents.
  • Maintain, and evolve as appropriate, company design and construction standards.
  • Support and contribute to company procedures and methodologies with an aim of working efficiently and collaboratively with both external and internal staff.

Customer Service – Responsive management and maintenance . . .

  • Daily management of consultants: including architects, civil, structural, mep, soils, landscape architects, special inspectors and project contractors for projects under your direction. Assist with approval of Design Team Invoices for payment.
  • On assigned projects attend Architects and consultants design meetings as the Owner’s representative.
  • Assist in providing Architectural clarifications to the Complete Construction’s Project Managers.
  • Be a resource for the Weidner development team, construction team and property management for jurisdiction code requirements and regulations.
  • Assist in communication between other departments in the Weidner Organization and the Design Teams to insure that the final product when built meets the user’s needs, the needs of Weidner, and the product produced is always improving.
  • Assist in documenting and archiving Project Documents as historical record for future reference. Provide requested Architectural documentation to other members of the Weidner Team for their use.

  • Follow Weidner’s Mission, Vision and Values and comply with all Weidner policies and procedures as outlined in the Associate Handbook and Policy and Procedure Manual, as well as Fair Housing rules and regulations.
  • Provide the Design Teams with clear program information, and desired standards for inclusion in the project design.
  • Review outside Consultant’s Design Documents and provide feedback and desired corrections.
  • Visit sites to observe work in progress, respond to contractor’s questions and requests in a timely manner. Or provide guidance to outside consultants to clarify the owner’s interests in their answering the RFI’s.
  • Maintain licensure and continuing education requirements to preserve the ablilty to practice in the jurisdictions being developed.

Qualifications

  • At least Five (5) years’ experience as an Architect with the majority of that experience in multi-family housing
  • Valid Washington State Architecture Stamp
  • NCARB Certification desired
  • Excellent time management skills and able to travel up to 50%. Be comfortable with working on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testing.
  • Valid and current driver’s license.
