Overview:

The role of the Underwriter is to provide extraordinary service to internal colleagues and external lenders/investors by producing detailed, orderly presentations of data, facts, and figures, that can lead an lender/investor to make a well-educated decision about financing requests. 

 

Education and Experience:

  • MUST have 1-2 years of debt transaction experience in the mortgage or commercial real estate industry.
  • Bachelor degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare commercial mortgage loan/sales packages and submissions for presentation to lenders and equity partners.
  • Work alongside Producers in the marketing of financing transactions.
  • Respond to lender and borrower questions.
  • Prepare market analysis reports, including vacancy, absorption, and comparable rents and sales.
  • Review and analyze legal documents and third party reports as part of the due diligence process.
  • Assist loan originators in preparing documentation for the closing process.
  • Organize and present financial analysis, draw objective conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Perform complicated financial modeling and spreadsheet analysis in Excel.
  • Prepare and maintain financial models in Argus.
  • Interact with clients, prospective buyers and investors in all stages of transactions, including RFPs, underwriting, packaging, marketing, and closings.
  • Underwrite real estate deals and command an understanding of various property types.
  • Maintain deal pipeline report including lender communication status.

Other Key Requirements:

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, quantitative, writing and communication skills; able to interface with top level executives.
  • Strong computer skills with an advanced working knowledge of Excel, Argus and Word.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented and strong time management skills to prioritize deadlines.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills.
