What are the key responsibilities of a project manager?

There are many components to the project manager’s role: They need to find out what new ideas are on the table that need to get implemented; scope out the project, which involves determining a reasonable deadline, the key players, the budget, and the various pieces involved; work backward from the deadline to develop a flexible game-plan; work with the entrepreneur’s assistant to clear Focus time in the schedule to work on the project, along with extra time just in case; connect the dots with all the players so they know what’s going on (this is ongoing); and follow the project from start to finish to make sure it gets done on time and on budget.

What’s the difference between an assistant and a project manager?

These two roles are very different and require distinct abilities. An assistant does the actual booking and day-to-day maintenance of the schedule, while the project manager collaborates closely with the assistant to allocate time in the schedule for various projects. The project manager is more future-focused and looks at what needs to get done in the time available.

What are the biggest challenges for a project manager?

A project manager’s biggest challenge can be managing expectations, because things don’t always happen just as the founder / entrepreneur would like. It can also be a challenge to work with many different personalities, but this is also part of the fun.

What motivates a project manager?

Our project managers get immense satisfaction from being part of the creative process, from learning, and from helping bring our newest ideas to life. They truly enjoy what they do.
