Description


Our client is an investment management company with an open-end fund that focuses on investing primarily in US based commercial real estate debt. They are looking for an experienced Asset Manager for their Greenwich, CT office. The firm invests in fixed and floating rate loans for all major asset classes (multifamily, office, mixed-use, industrial, hotel & retail). In addition, candidate must be experienced in modeling and underwriting multifamily construction loans.

  

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze asset performance to mitigate portfolio risk - construct financial models, sensitivity analyses, comparable analyses and other discrete financial analyses as well as market research
  • Work with external partners including sponsors, co-lenders, attorneys, loan servicers and third-party consultants
  • Fully understand loan documents and confirm borrower conformity
  • Prepare for and participate in bi-monthly frequent portfolio reviews
  • Work with investment team to monitor existing investments on an on-going basis with an understanding that asset management is also an extension of originations/sourcing since more than 50% of investments are from repeat relationships
  • Conduct property and market due diligence with travel as required
  • Review and process borrower requests and present to team for approval
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly property financial reporting
  • Develop asset management committee memoranda
  • Assist in the day-to-day tasks of the group including the creation of presentations, excel spreadsheets, databases, etc. on an ad hoc basis

Qualification and Experience (Academic, Professional, Relevant Job Knowledge)

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate institution
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate debt asset management, real estate investment banking,
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support communication with external counterparties
  • Strong willingness to pick up the phone and communicate with others verbally.  Strong listener and ability to ask leading questions to learn more about the asset, tenants, sponsor portfolio, potential issues, etc.
  • Commercial real estate lending, principal investing, and/or brokering
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with loan servicers, borrowers and investment team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with a thorough knowledge of Excel including the ability to perform cash flow analyses
  • Ability to work in a team environment, yet work independently with little supervision
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and meet multiple deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment
  • Strong familiarity with commercial real estate loan documents
