Our client, which is among the largest US multinational banks and consistently ranked among the top of the CMBS league tables, is looking for an Associate/ VP level Underwriter to work within our US Commercial Mortgage Back Securities (CMBS) group.
The Underwriter would work on a CMBS underwriting team that is dedicated to a specific originator that focuses on making loans in the western US and would be based in the Los Angeles area. The candidate would work directly on overseeing the sizing of deals, underwriting process, preparing credit briefs/Asset Summaries and financial analysis packages that exam the financial feasibility and credit worthiness of fixed rate CMBS loans. Work would also include inspecting the assets, coordinating with our internal appraisers and engineers, closing staff, outside counsel, and working with our due diligence vendors. Other responsibilities include analyzing property financial statements, resolving transactional issues that escalate in third party reports, review borrower financial statements, comprehend and summarize legal documents, and present transactions to senior managers, rating agencies and b-buyers for approval.
Our Client lends nationwide and on all major property types, including multifamily, office, retail, warehouse, hospitality, and self-storage. Last year our Client originated and securitized over three billion of Conduit production and over four billion of Single Borrower/Single Asset production and was ranked number 1 in the industry with a sizable market share, up from the prior year.
Qualifications:
- Candidates are generally required to have a BA/BS, preferably with a major in real estate, business, accounting or economics.
- Five to ten years of CMBS real estate underwriting experience.
- Proficiency with Excel and preferably some exposure to Argus.
- Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to multitask.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
