The Financial Reporting Manager will manage the financial reporting and technical accounting with respect to the Company’s operating company as well as the real estate related private equity investment funds managed by the Company and in conjunction with Corporate technical resources as required.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Responsible for all external financial reporting deliverables including quarterly and annual reports, debt covenant reporting packages, offering memorandums, and monthly internal reporting packages
  • Coordination of audit relationship with Deloitte and assist the SVP of Financial Reporting to manage more complex audit and financial reporting presentation and disclosure issues
  • Serve as point person for review comments from auditors and senior management with respect to external and internal reporting deliverables
  • Produce monthly internal financial reports including performance of variance analysis of such reports in order to provide Management with concise information regarding the financial activities of the Company
  • Research and monitor latest accounting literature and interpretations in accordance with GAAP and IFRS (GAAP is heretofore defined as both U.S. GAAP and IFRS), assess impact to the Company, document and communicate positions
  • Research authoritative accounting guidance related to complex and/or nonrecurring transactions, determine accounting treatment, document and communication positions
  • Responsible for working closely with Fund Accounting ensuring that the Funds’ books and records are in accordance with GAAP and/or IFRS as appropriate
  • Responsibility over ensuring that the Technical Accounting Manual is continuously updated, and fund related accounting policies are in accordance with the Technical Accounting Manual
  • Responsible for financial reporting internal controls including documentation, evidence, and review requirements
  • Responsible for working with fund accounting to implement and maintain fund related internal controls to comply with all the applicable provisions of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, as amended (the “Advisers Act”)
  • Any ad hoc reporting requests from the Board of Directors, Senior Management or Investors
  • Manage and lead special projects such as process improvement and implementation projects while coordinating with other departments

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting with a strong preference for a technical accounting role and Big 4 experience
  • Possess a CPA, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge/experience in the Real Estate Industry preferred
  • Good understanding of accounting and business processes
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Able to influence people and arrive at good solutions in a collaborative and constructive manner
  • Must be systems savvy. Experience with Netsuite and Smartview, or other report writers, preferred
  • Highly organized, with focus on process discipline
  • Ability to be flexible and able to work as part of a team
