Analyst/Underwriter
Basic Function:
Meridian Capital Group is seeking an Analyst to assist in the origination and placement of structured debt and equity assignments for institutional-quality commercial real estate transactions located across the United States. The Analyst will join a small team that focuses on sourcing financing for transitional business plans including new construction, redevelopments and value-add investments, among others. The Analyst will assist an SVP and report to one of the firm’s senior partners.
Main Responsibilities:
· Interact with clients and lenders in all stages of a fundraising assignment, including the underwriting, marketing, and closing of senior loans, subordinate debt, and joint-venture equity investments
· Collaborate closely with lenders, clients, and third-party providers during the marketing and closing process. Assist in answering underwriting questions, providing various due diligence deliverables, and tracking market feedback in an accurate and organized fashion
· Apply analytical and creative writing skills to summarize financing opportunities into comprehensive offering memorandums that leverage the team’s collective research, analysis, and input
· Prepare/create financial cash flow models for different financing scenarios with an ability to quickly layer-in additional functionality such as IRR waterfalls, dynamic operating assumptions and inputs, etc.
· Prepare ad hoc market analysis by leveraging third-party research and summarizing key market demand drivers, demographics, quantitative fundamentals, and other notable performance metrics
· Participate in networking events to develop strong working relationships with peers at various lending institutions
Requirements
· Self-motivated, team-oriented and strong time management skills to prioritize deadlines
· 2-3 years of experience in a financial analysis environment in the mortgage or commercial real estate industry (prior experience at a bank a plus)
· Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or related discipline
· Excellent organizational, interpersonal, quantitative, writing and communication skills; able to interface with top level executives
· Superior technical skills with an advanced working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
· Exceptional research, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
