The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Real Estate Services team is seeking an individual who wants to embrace challenges and exceed standards. As the mega project specialist, this position serves as the real estate project manager on statewide projects that have significant cost and attract a high level of public attention and political interest because of their substantial direct and indirect impacts on the public, environment, and budgets. Coordination across region, division, bureau, department and agency lines is required, as well as coordination with local communities, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), special interest groups, major businesses, and regulatory agencies. This position is the real estate single point of contact for the project and leads the real estate team of either MDOT real estate staff or real estate consultants toward the delivery of the right-of-way activities needed for the project. This position requires meeting tight deadlines and resolving complex issues to ensure the successful implementation and operation of MDOT services and products.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of real estate practices as well as project management experience. Familiarity with the Uniform Act is a plus. This position also requires excellent organizational and analytical skills as these are essential to contributing to team success.

MDOT Property Specialist 13 - Real Estate Project Manager for Mega Projects description image

Required Education and Experience

 

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
 
Experience
Four years of experience equivalent to a Property Analyst, including two years equivalent to a Property Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to a Property Analyst 12.

 

Additional Requirements and Information

 

Some positions may require possession of a valid real estate, appraisal, and/or broker’s license, or certification by the State Assessors’ Board.
