Basic Functions

 

Assist the in-house Technical Services Group in providing the Real Estate Department of an institutional investment management company with Architectural and Engineering expertise relating to Architectural, Structural, Building Enclosure, Site & Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP), Fire Protection, Life Safety and Vertical Transportation Systems and Energy Conservation to ensure product quality of a diversified real estate portfolio. 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Evaluate Environmental, Architectural, Structural, Building Enclosure, Site & Civil and Building Mechanical systems including Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Vertical Transportation Systems and Energy Conservation related to the Company’s real estate investments (Mortgage Loan Security and Real Estate Owned).
  • Analyze property related documents (Property Condition and Environmental Site Assessments, Plans, Surveys, Specifications, Geotechnical, Seismic and ADA Reports etc…) and advise the Chief Architect on the adequacy, suitability and overall quality of the property’s design, construction and condition.  Make recommendations relative to architectural. engineering and specific concerns.  Prepare written review memorandums and cost analysis.
  • Provide Construction Management / Owner’s Representative duties on special assignments.
  • Conduct due diligence and field inspections and monitor ongoing projects and analyze requests for construction progress payments.
  • Provide architectural / engineering and environmental support to other groups in the Real Estate Department. 
  • Recommend policies and value enhancement strategies to the Chief Architect on positions Technical Services should develop and implement.
  • Research and advise Technical Services on new architectural /engineering developments and environmental issues for impact on the Real Estate Portfolio.
  • Manage and maintain file systems for plan and loan document inventory
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

Experience and Skills

 

  • BS in Architecture and/or Engineering and a Professional License (RA or PE) is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of multi-disciplined professional experience including Construction Management and Environmental experience
  • Ability to follow through on tasks to a timely and successful completion
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
