ABOUT US

Hickory CRE Lending currently originates middle market to institutional stretch senior, preferred equity, and mezzanine loans across the U.S. for construction, bridge, and repositioning of multifamily, hotel, office, retail, and other asset classes. HCRE sees 60+ CRE opportunities per month and deploys capital from several managed accounts.  This is a dynamic and rare opportunity for full cycle direct lending experience from deal screening to loan funding.    

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The CRE Debt Associate will work closely with senior members of the team to assist in originating, underwriting, and executing CRE debt transactions that are consistent with the firm’s Real Estate Credit investment strategy. This role will involve managing multiple transactions with multiple stakeholders.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop excel models projecting property level cash flows, borrower and lender returns
  • Lead due diligence of new investments, including market research, broker calls, third-party reports, financial statements audits
  • Draft and negotiate term sheets and loan documents with support from legal
  • Prepare detailed Investment Committee memos
  • Develop and work with financing sources (e.g. senior/mezz, A/B)
  • Support the team throughout loan funding and servicing

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7 years of relevant commercial real estate underwriting experience in multiple U.S. markets
  • 2-3 years of senior or mezz lending experience with a bank, fund, family office, broker, etc.
  • Exceptional Excel modeling skills, proficiency in CoStar and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent business writing and interpersonal communication
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, candidate should be a team player that is proactive and self-motivated
  • Ability and confidence to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Accuracy, completeness, pride of ownership
  • Desire to join an entrepreneurial team and grow along with the platform
  • Periodic travel as needed
