Job Summary:

This position is within the HSE Department of CBRE located at the client site in Zebulon, NC. The primary duty of the Fire Safety Systems Technician to perform maintenance and inspections of fire life safety systems site-wide.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual inspections and testing of various fire life safety systems such as diesel fire pumps for water tanks, fire extinguishers, fire sprinkler systems, water flow on risers, fixed fire suppression systems, and fire hoses.
  • Periodically review and update work order maintenance plans.
  • Complete work orders that are created for site fire life safety systems.
  • Assist with any regulatory inspections and audits for all fire life safety systems.
  • Supervise contractors that come to perform inspections and maintenance on fire life safety systems.
  • Assess updated regulations and new developments for applicability to site fire life safety systems.
  • Perform activities on the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) such as troubleshooting, alarm investigation, and deactivation of devices.
  • Perform work on fire alarm system to include replacing fire alarm devices and device covers.
  • Perform inspections and testing on Fire Brigade equipment such as self-contained breathing apparatus, medical supplies, hazmat supplies and fire trucks.
  • Assist the Permit to Work Department as a backup Issuer and Technical Authority for Confined Spaces, Excavation/Trenching and Burn/Open Flame permits.
  • Attend the following meetings: staff meetings, contractor safety meetings, CBRE business meetings, shutdown meetings etc.
  • Complete all client & CBRE required safety training in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the Zero Accident Program.
  • Work on HSE projects or processes.
  • Available to be on a rotating call schedule for nights and weekends
  • Other duties assigned by the HSE Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience.
• Fundamental knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety and environmental

regulations.
• Experience working in manufacturing, construction and facility maintenance preferred.
• Computer proficiency of Microsoft Office programs.

Certificates and/or License:
• Any Fire / Safety certifications useful; CBRE will train.

Communication Skills:
• Must be customer oriented.
• Ability to talk to and reason with people.
• Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
• Ability to write reports and correspondence.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, co-workers, and/or supervisor.

Financial Knowledge:
• Ability to calculate simple figures.

Reasoning Ability:
• Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations.
• Ability to solve problems in standard situations.
• Requires basic analytical skills.

Other Skills and/or Abilities:
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work with a sense of urgency
