Greystar, a fully-integrated national multifamily investment, development, and property management company is looking for an Architect in its Downtown Austin offices.

 

College degree in Architecture preferred.

This position is to be shared between the roles of architectural design direction and project development. Candidates for this position will be expected to work closely with the architectural design team to create and develop overall design concepts, formulate design presentation strategies, and provide creative leadership as well as to support the execution of the Company’s development platform by managing the development processes.

 

Roles and responsibilities include completing initial land acquisition due diligence, facilitating the underwriting and closing of real estate transactions and managing third party consultants through the project design and construction process. Additionally this candidate will be expected to provide effective, creative and strategic design-thinking solutions to achieve project goals, offer design-based market-differentiating factors to projects, and elevate architectural design on all projects with attention to project goals, sustainability, local context and current trends.

 

Development Job Responsibilities:

  1. Works with the development team to manage the due diligence process on land opportunities, and develops documentation and recommendations on key findings that may affect the return and financial performance of the proposed deal.

     

  2. Works with the development team to prepare detailed investment memorandums providing insight on the proposed projects for submission to the Company’s Investment Committee including detailed pro-forma and financial models and pursuit cost budgets.

     

  3. Supports the negotiation of sale and purchase agreements for approved projects.

     

  4. Directs third party relationships to complete project design concept and building plans in accordance to approved scope of work.

     

  5. Manages relationships with the construction team to ensure construction projects are completed in a timely manner, designed according to plan and within budgetary guidelines. Works with the team to ensure the development and coordination of quality control procedures. Ensures all required Certificate of Occupancy and permits are obtained.

     

  6. Maintains on-going communications with the executive team, equity partners, and other key business leaders affiliated with the project to provide periodic updates on the progress against schedule and budgets, surfaces and resolves issues that may compromise the project delivery schedule or costs, and responds quickly and with urgency to questions, concerns, and requests for information.

     

  7. Works closely with the property management team to finalize budgets and project design plans, accepts units from construction on behalf of Owner and ensures all aspects of the project adhere to Company development standards.

     

  8. Develops and maintains relationships with local market brokers, institutional and equity partners, lenders, real estate owners,

  9. and other key stakeholders, and appropriately manages on-going communications related to proposed development projects.

     

  10. Completes various human resources, financial, administrative, and other reports and analysis, and performs other duties as assigned or as necessary.

 

Architectural Design Responsibilities

DESIGN

  1. Demonstrates advanced understanding and application of design practices, theories, and methods

  2. Understands overall building design concepts, objectives and critical issues and applies knowledge to tasks and assignments

  3. Understands and responds to the technical implications of design decisions

  4. Facilitates firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability

 

TECHNICAL

  1. Reviews contract documents, plans and details

  2. Assists with coordination of drawings and specifications

  3. Applies knowledge of code, accessibility and zoning analyses

 

MANAGEMENT

  1. Actively participates in marketing presentations and client meetings

  2. Fosters relationships with contractors, consultants and vendors

  3. Organize, direct and mentor junior staff
