JOB SUMMARY


The Forklift Mechanic maintains all powered industrial equipment to ensure the safety of all equipment used by employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Ensures powered industrial equipment is in compliance with OSHA standards
Performs preventive maintenance and repairs to powered industrial equipment
Travels to all company locations to perform inspections of equipment and maintenance/repairs
Prioritizes and schedules repairs and maintenance to reduce or eliminate equipment down time
Maintains PIE maintenance and repair records
Oversees employee inspections of PIE
Ensures an adequate stock of parts and supplies for PIE maintenance
Maintains a clean and safe work environment
Completes training, seminars and classes as assigned
Performs duties in accordance with all company safety rules and OSHA guidelines
Completes and submits required reports accurately and on time
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training. Knowledge of powered industrial equipment maintenance, repair and OSHA standards

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

May require valid driver's license. CDL license preferred. Certified Welder preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
