What it's about

In this position, you will be part of a dynamic and growing global real estate asset management team within a large, established investment platform.  Your responsibilities will include working closely with team members and local operating partners in order to drive the performance of real estate investments in all property sectors.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive value creation and prevent value leakage across all facets of the construction process including commercial and procurement strategy, programing, planning, design and development in conjunction with local operating partners and consultants
  • Drive successful project outcomes by supporting realistic cost and program parameters from the outset and then overseeing and driving execution against these targets
  • Ensure the assets incorporate appropriate commercial resilience in the base design, for example through the inclusion of future looking technology requirements, M&E flexibility, place-making and other emerging design trends, to withstand and adapt to changes in the market
  • Drive the creation of quality assets that support operational asset management, through the lifecycle performance and cost effectiveness considerations of design and material selection, from base build elements through to interior design and fit out. Establish appropriate quality assurance measures throughout the design and construction process, incorporating third party monitoring and audit procedures as appropriate
  • Drive a progressive and innovative approach to sustainable solutions that are also commercially viable, including striving to achieve new benchmarks in LEED/BREEAM/WELL, etc.
  • Set a leadership tone for establishing excellent health, safety and well-being performance through the design and construction process and ultimately of the asset's operational performance
  • Work with the project team to anticipate and avoid issues but where needed troubleshoot to resolve financial, design, scheduling and other challenges that may arise
  • Negotiate business deals with consultants, vendors, contractors, neighboring property owners, and others
What we expect

In this position, we are looking for a person who works well in an entrepreneurial organization, who is a self-starter and possesses strong networking and organization skills. The successful candidate should have the following profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, engineering, architecture or similar subject required
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience preferably at a real estate operator/developer, construction consulting firm, or asset manager with experience specifically focused on the design and construction of commercial real estate projects
  • Demonstrated leadership in some or all of the following: commercial, contract and cost management, programing, planning, entitlements and permitting, management of design teams and construction management
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of the design and build aspects of construction and how these relate to a development context e.g. market or tenant requirements
  • Experience of LEED/BREEAM certified projects, including the attainment of new benchmarks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving ability, with strong attention to detail
  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work in a team-oriented environment
