Salary:  Min: $105,919.84  - Max: $177,333.00

Minimum Qualifications:               

Bachelor's degree. A minimum of five to nine years of professional experience in engineering, architecture, planning, or construction management are required.

Recruitment Notes:

Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department (PROS) seeks a candidate with experience and a demonstrated commitment to Planning, Design and Construction Excellence with a portfolio of varied and complex design projects which he/she has been directly responsible for managing. The Assistant Director's position is responsible for managing, directing and integrating multiple divisions within PROS to support the vision, mission and values of the department.  This position leads and directs the Planning, Design, Construction, and Grants management teams in the development of projects in alignment with the department's Capital Program. The candidate will assist the Director in developing the strategic direction for the implementation of the Parks and Open Space Masterplan (OSMP); which was developed through extensive community and professional engagement, approved by the County Commission in 2008, and endorsed by the 34 municipalities in Miami-Dade County as a shared vision for enhancing health and well-being for all residents and visitors. This position oversees the planning, design and construction of iconic parks and public spaces, the preservation and enhancement of historic sites, the implementation of signature greenways and blueways safe routes to parks and complete streets which form the foundational elements of the OSMP. The Assistant Director is responsible for developing and managing Annual Business Plan and Budget for the division.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a collaborative leadership style and outcome-oriented management experience that evidences the capacity to effectively lead, grow, and sustain a high level of collaboration, innovation and productivity, which is critical to the department's success and sustainable future.  Responsibilities require strategic thinking and planning with a degree of administrative discretion.  A Master's Degree in Architecture, Architecture, Real Estate Development or related field is desired, as well as knowledge of Smart Growth Principles, LEED practices and architecture and landscape architecture resiliency best practices.
