The Professionals’ Choice for Real Estate Jobs

Stalemate

The U.S. has added jobs for an 81 month stretch starting in 2010. Unemployment hit a 16-month low, in May. But as the WSJ Sunday headline confirmed, “Jobs Grow, but Wages Stay Stuck.” The last time the Real Estate industry faced a talent shortage at this level was 2007, when employers pulled out all stops, offering sign on bonuses, equity, whatever it took. What we have now is a stalemate. Candidates unwilling to move without significant incentives, and employers unwilling to raise the bar. Need to hire now? Put a salary range in your job postings. Our professionals are not shy about requesting a tad more when they interview, but in the meantime, you may attract a rising star. Make clear why your company and jobs are irresistible. Don’t just list the responsibilities, highlight the benefits of your opportunity, even challenge them. “If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere,” made people want to be in New York.
