POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

 

The Director of AR & Collections is a senior leader in the Accounting & Finance organization with responsibility for building, directing, and overseeing collections and receivables teams who are processing a high volume of transactions for a large organization across multiple geographic markets. The Director of AR & Collections is responsible for designing and implementing processes to reduce receivables, for ensuring operational goals and metrics are achieved, and that collection activity is conducted in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

  1. Leads a large Collections team of 20+ team members across multiple regions and markets. Includes directing and prioritizing Collection activities of the team to meet or exceed established performance targets.
  2. Develops, documents, and maintains strategies to reduce delinquency and limit write offs of receivables.
  3. Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of company policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local laws. Ensures that the team s collections activity is conducted in compliance with these policies and laws.
  4. Directs an Accounts Receivable team of approximately 10 team members responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of resident receivable ledgers and Company accounting records
  5. Works closely with peers across all departments to establish and coordinate interdepartmental policies and procedures.
  6. Provide insightful reporting and feedback, positive or negative, to the organization on current performance, key metrics, market trends and challenges. Facilitate tactical and strategic solutions for improving results.
  7. Hires, coaches, develops, and trains team members. Communicates performance level expectations; provides constructive feedback and establishes accountability to ensure goals of individual team members and the team meet or exceed expectations.
  8. Ensures teams are utilizing Company systems and processes efficiently and in accordance with policies.
  9. Manages relationships with external parties (external attorneys, third-party collection agencies, etc.)
  10. Leads by example and promotes a culture of superior customer service to residents and collaboration with internal teams.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

 

  1. Bachelor s degree in business, Accounting, Management, or related field
  2. Five years experience in leading a large team in a high-volume transaction environment. Managing multiple locations is a plus
  3. Experience managing a business to consumer collections team
  4. Property Management experience is preferred
  5. Strong Negotiation and Communication skills
  6. Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  7. Attention to detail and ability to document policies and procedures
  8. Understanding and familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations relating to collections activities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Manages transaction processing managers (Collections and AR Managers) and clerical level staff

 

 

TRAVEL
