Data Center Civil Engineer

About the role

• CBRE is looking for a highly motivated Data Center Civil Engineer with proven construction and execution experience in the area of complex and mission critical facilities. Knowledge of large-scale data centers and on-site construction is helpful. Excellent communication skills, ability to work in teams and matrix organization. The candidate will be involved in the development of complex civil infrastructure from site assessments and concept design to green field construction and major modification of existing infrastructures on global capital projects. The candidate will have a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, and construction methods and materials.

What you'll do

• Be the on-site Owner for projects under construction in the DFW metro.
• Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and repairs.
• Leads all aspects of the work of contractors/subcontractors.
• Monitors and tracks project civil construction progress and ensures design specifications, safety, testing, and quality standards are met.
• Reviews RFIs and submittals prepared by the Contractor and collaborates with the EOR to ensure Owner requirements are met.
• Provides guidance on earthwork (cut/fill) operations/sequencing.
• Supervises field work to ensure that it meets all safety and quality standards.
• Inspects materials, equipment, and workmanship to identify any defects or problems.
• Recommends and collaborates with key project partners on corrective actions to ensure that the project is completed to the highest possible standards.
• Collaborates with key internal collaborators on technical field observations related to planning, design, and construction.
• Attends Owner/Engineer/Contractor meetings and contributes to future site planning and design.

What you'll need

• B.S.(Civil or Geotech Engineering) is required, M.S. & P.E. are preferred.
• 5+ years of shown experience with heavy civil construction
• Knowledge of civil construction standards and practices
• Strong knowledge of large-scale construction process, and soil properties, geotechnical reports and borings.
• Experience and general knowledge of cross discipline teams: structural, geotechnical, architectural, and other specialists and construction professionals.
• Domestic travel, as needed (up to 25% of time)
