Pay and Benefits

BART offers comprehensive compensation and benefits programs. Benefits include CalPERS pension; excellent medical (effective January 1, 2019 current employee cost $147.14 monthly for most plans), vision, and dental coverage; supplemental insurances; paid holidays and vacation; as well as two investment programs, one of which is entirely funded by BART. BART does not participate in Social Security. Complimentary BART passes for employee and qualifying dependents.

 

Pay Rate

$116,268.33/annually - $151,148.73/annually (AFSCME Band H)

Current Assignment

The ideal candidate will:

 

  • Coordinate solicitations and negotiations with developers, including working with BART’s General Counsel to advance legal real estate agreements (Exclusive Negotiating Agreements, Lease Options, Estoppels and others)
  • Collaborate with other BART departments impacted by BART’s TOD projects, including Planning, Customer Access, Maintenance and Engineering, Safety, and BART Police, among others
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local jurisdiction partners
  • Be part of the team implementing Assembly Bill 2923 (2018, Chiu/Grayson) and SB 35 (2017, Weiner)
  • Deepen BART’s knowledge and engagement with external funding and financing sources for TOD, including state housing and infrastructure funds, county and regional funds, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, New Markets Tax Credits, Opportunity Zones, and Enhanced Infrastructure Finance Districts (EIFDs)

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, property development or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.

 

Experience:

Four (4) years of (full-time equivalent) verifiable professional experience in the areas of acquisition, appraisal, disposal, or management of real property.

 

Other Requirements:

Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

 

Substitution:

Additional professional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
